Noah's Great Flood Created Causeway April 1, 2005 |

Forget Finn MacCool! New research strongly suggests that the north coast's famous formation of hexagonal rocks was created by Noah's flood. According to antipodean geologist and researcher Dr Tas Walker, the Giant's Causeway is the result of a watery catastrophe on a huge scale. Writing in the latest edition of the Answers in Genesis Christian magazine Creation, Dr Walker says: "As soon as we clear our minds of interpretations invented by people who do not believe in Noah's flood, we can see the evidence in a different light." The geologist, an expert in power station design and operation, is a firm believer that the geologic conditions at the Northern Ireland World Heritage Site are consistent with the world-shattering event described in the Bible - an event which dramatically affected the course of human history over 4,500 years ago. "Generally, visitors are unaware that they are looking at some of the giant, catastrophic effects of Noah's global flood," Dr Walker said. "It's not surprising that people do not see the connection." Tourist brochure information claiming the rocks are 60 million years old do nothing to help promote this theory. "People do not realise that geologists cannot measure the ages of rocks directly," said Dr Walker. "Without eye-witness reports, the best we can do is to calculate an age based on assumptions about the past. "Geologists quote ages in millions of years because they make the wrong assumptions. "They don't believe Noah's flood was real. "Once we realise that the dates assigned to the Causeway are not measured but someone's opinion, we can look at the evidence in a different light and the evidence points to a large-scale watery catastrophe much bigger than anything we see today. "It's consistent with Noah's Flood." Backing up his theory, the Australian writer and researcher says a major indication is the cataclysmic size of the lava eruptions at the site. Evidence of water, which left telltale signs all over the hardened lava, is another pointer that the causeway was created by flood damage and may not have been built by an angry giant seeking to settle a score in Scotland after all.
