Meets biblical dimension of 300 cubits
God gave Noah the instructions to build the Ark to a measurement of 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. How long is a cubit? First we must determine what cubit Moses was referring to when he recorded the flood account in Genesis. According to Act 7:22, Moses, "was learned in all the wisdom of Egypt." From this reference we can determine that Moses was likely using the Royal egyptian cubit, which would grant a legth of 20.62 inches per cubit. This would make the length of the Ark 515.7 feet. While the length of the durupinar site cannot be accurately measured, due to the fact that it's hard to tell where it begins and ends, it does, however, come within feet of the biblical record. The durupinar site is twice the width of the biblical record of 50 cubits. One theory explains that this can be credited from a splaying open effect; the immense weight of rock and mud caused the ark to splay open under pressure. The height can not be measured because supposedly the decks have collapsed on top of each other.

Expert confirmation
Ekrem Akurgal, Turkey's most famous archeologist, declares, "it is, at any rate, a ship". Akurgal, who was a self-declared atheist, told the Turkish press that this was Noah's Ark. When asked why he responded: "because there is no other explanation".

Turkish geologist Dr. Salih Bayraktutan, a professor of geology at Erzurum University, continues to research the site after 15+ years. He feels the site could not have formed naturally, considering it's in an area that is extremely earthquake prone. The site remains standing, with over 30 foot walls, despite increased erosion around the object and oftern violent earthquakes..

Professor Robert Michelson, principal research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, started SEPDAC to further research what he believes might be the remains of an ancient vessel in eastern Turkey. He states, "the data from our geophysical studies in no way conflicts with the assumption that the unusual boat shaped object near Maher village contains the remains of Noah's Ark."
